Brenda Bogart

Classically trained as a painter, Brenda Bogart has spent the last decade-plus translating her skilled hand to ‘painting with paper,’ as she refers to her media-bending collage practice. Always on the look out for new material, everything from vintage books and sheet music to bits of peeling paint finds its way into the extensive collection of found paper that fills her Dallas studio. Under Bogart’s exacting eye, these raw materials are transformed into complex works of art that are in turn deftly abstracted and impressively representational. Each collage is a meticulously executed labor of love, with same large scale pieces taking upwards of 50 hours to complete.

While her subject matter is continually changing and evolving, craftsmanship and dedication to her vision are constants at the heart of her work and artist practice.
