Vanessa Valero

"Landscape Dialogues is my examination of textile-art expression as a dialogue between surfaces and landscapes. My roots are in the South, more precisely in Colombia. While doing my Masters in Textile at Aalto University in Finland my encounter with nature became increasingly important to me and wanted to explore it in my textiles. Over the summer of 2015, I was able to make an internship in Iceland where I learned how to make hand-tuft surfaces. Also the experience of living in Reykjavik impressed me to my core to the state that it became my inspiration of my master thesis. My life in Finland and Iceland introduced me to a different relationship with nature and this motivated me to continue creating surfaces inspired on landscapes."
